WhatsApp Integration Best Practices
12 min read
WhatsApp is where GCC customers already are — they don't want to download another app or fill out a web form. Getting the most out of your Alonah integration is mostly about letting the AI do what it already does well, and configuring a few details that make replies feel personal.
Answer instantly, in either language
The AI answers the moment a customer messages, in whichever language they use — Arabic or English — and follows them if they switch mid-conversation. There's no queue and no "we'll get back to you" delay, which is the single biggest driver of conversion on a channel customers expect instant replies on.
Let customers talk instead of typing
Voice notes sent over WhatsApp are transcribed and answered exactly like typed text — and on Business and Enterprise plans, once a business opts in, the AI can reply with a synthesized spoken voice note of its own. This captures customers who'd rather speak than type without any extra staffing.
Use one-tap actions after every booking
After a booking is confirmed, the AI proactively sends the customer one-tap Reschedule/Cancel options, so the most common follow-up requests don't require typing a full sentence. This alone significantly reduces the back-and-forth needed to manage a change of plans.
Make delivery reliable, not just fast
If a WhatsApp message can't be delivered for any reason, the system automatically falls back to SMS (and, for some notification types, email) so a reminder or confirmation still reaches the customer. Every message is also verified and matched to the correct business — and correct branch, for multi-location businesses — before it's processed.
Know when to hand off to a human
Any complaint, or explicit request for a person, is escalated to your staff over WhatsApp every time — even while the AI keeps replying empathetically in the meantime. Staff can take over from the AI at any point from the dashboard, and hand control back just as easily.
